Experiences at the University

Mae Fah luang university is one of the best universities in Asia. Prof. Hyde was an excellent supervisor. He went collecting with us and taught us collecting tips and fungal isolation techniques during the very first months of our PhD. Learning in MFU was a wonderful experience. I was able to collect fungi in various places in Thailand and local students were friendly and helpful to foreign students. My supervisor Prof. Kevin Hyde was able to provide me two internships in the Chinese Academy of Science, Beijing, China and United States Department of Agriculture, Beltsville, Maryland, USA.  These two internships also provided me great exposure and research experience in a molecular laboratory.

Work experience and present expertise since leaving the University.

After I graduated I started a Postdoc in the United States Department of Agriculture, Beltsville, Maryland, USA with Dr. Lisa Castlbury (2015-2017). Then I joined with the Department of Botany, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura as a Senior Lecturer. Currently, I am teaching Mycology to Undergraduate students and doing research on Sri Lankan fungi with graduate and undergraduate students.
